Do you find yourself watching these food shows more now than you did pre-op? I do and I can't for the life of me explain it. lol  I think it might have started just after my recovery period when I was stuck at home with nothing else to watch..but I watched Animal Planet, History Channel and Discovery before--I don't get it.  Anyone care to take a stab at why so many of us are watching food shows now?

I think I watched more of those right after surgery than I do now.  Still enjoy Iron Chef occasionally but DH won'****ch any of the them so it has to be in the bedroom or when he isn't home.

Why???  No clue.  I certainly don't cook like those folks do, including amount of fat, number of ingred.  steps of preparation, etc.

I never watched them before and I dont now. But if I had to wager it is like porn, we were once addicted to something and now that we cant have it (well within reason) we can obsess over it. It all looks so good and we say Oh man what would that taste like... I will say the only show I do watch is Cake Boss and I have Vowed to get DH a cake from there for his retirement from the Navy, I will drive there and everything to pick it up

I have always watched those shows. Those and HGTV. I love to cook and collect cookbooks. I read them like novels. I always have. It didn't change after surgery.

Never have watched them.  They just frustrate me with all the ingredients and how fast they go through the recipe.  If its not a simple 4-6 item recipe, I lose interest in it...   Not that I cook much anyway..

I love watching the Food Network.  I watched it prior to surgery also.  I like to see new things and try different things.  I take some of their recipes and try to make them healthier - some of them have been pretty good.

I am also fascinated by the WLS shows.  I am currently watching Fat Chefs and My 600 pound life.  My 600 Pound Life is following 4 people over a 7 year period who had RNY surgery.  I loved to watch Dr. Garth's show, but it doesn't come on anymore.  I think it helps to see people who have some of the same struggles that I have, seeing some of the things they do wrong and the things they do right.  It helps keep it in prospective for me.

My husband and I have always watched the cooking shows. But now when he turns them on I ask him to change the channel because it feels like I'm just tempting myself. So I don'****ch them anymore.

We've always watched The Biggest Loser with a bowl of ice cream in our hands but now post op I have a bowl of Greek yogurt and strawberries. It's hard to break old habits, but I'm working on it.

We watch both the food network and HGTV almost every night.  We have for years.  It hasn't changed because of surgery.  Sometimes it makes me me miss my days of gluttony; especially Triple D.  But usually it doesn't bother me at all.  It's kind of like watching shows about million dollar homes.  They are nice, but I probably won't ever have one.

I only have a couple of food shows that I like and they seem to have disappeared from the networks.  Hopefully new seasons are being filmed.

My new TV obsession is crime TV.... like Dateline and the Justice Files, not the crime drama shows.   I'm enthralled with the crimes people commit for such crazy reasons and how they all think they are so smart they can get away with them.
DH is getting worried about me watching all the TV about women killing off their husbands.    It keeps him on his toes.  (He doesn't have to worry. He's a keeper.)  When I was recovering after my plastic surgery, it was the best thing I could find on daytime TV to watch and very easy to fall asleep with as I got my rest.

I'm not much of a cook because DH does not like surprises or anything spicy so I've never been interested in the cooking shows. Maybe you are hoping someone will finally come up with a healthy protein menu.  I think that's why I read menu's on here but I have lots of intentions but never make any of them.
